BJ Buckets Parking Lot Treasure Hunt

Treasure Hunt My children enjoy treasure hunts. Sometimes they make them up on their own for others at home. Sometimes it becomes a game, like “I Spy” while traveling on the road. I found some random words on Main Street a while back that I’d never noticed before, and they made me curious.

Having taken the bus to work one day, I arrived too early and so decided to walk around the parking lot to see what interesting things I could find. I found enough random details (that children might not otherwise discover) to make a visual treasure hunt. This is just for fun and something to do for me (then) and for you … or your children, rather… (now).

If you are arriving by car, park in the parking lot behind Bluebird. You can get to it from Center St. between Waffle Iron and Great Harvest, or you can get to it from 100 West, south of Ranchera Market. You will be walking around about 45 minutes, most of the time near the buildings.

I will list the treasures starting at the corner of Waffle Iron where Center St. and the driveway to the parking lot meet….then will follow the sidewalk and, more particularly, the buildings, to the right, or counterclockwise. This treasure hunt will take you around the sides of the buildings and down the alleys as well, but will not turn next to any of the main streets (except briefly at 100 West to cross the parking lot). Everything I have listed has been there for a while and, I figure, will be there for a while…. Nothing temporary. Okay, ready for some adventure? (p.s. Bring your favorite kid joke with you.)

I have included two lists and a treasure map.. The first list is for older children who enjoy a good challenge. Next is the treasure map to help you with location; It is not precise, but it will get you close enough to find each. The second list (located below the treasure map) has the same treasures (or random details of interest for children), but includes the locations (either for ease in looking or for moms giving hints).
